I love you Arx, you are the only person that can write about writing that immediately compels me to slam closed to laptop (and get the non-internet laptop) and DO THE THING. Thank you man. Still telling everybody I know about Incel <3
I keep coming back to this to ground me and remind myself that I need to be a bit less precious in what I am in the process of finishing. Your voice as a writer is what matters. What is yours to give, which is, and this is undeniably cringe, unique to each of us. The problem starts when we deny that and try to all write the same tepid emotionslop.
"Telling extremely difficult, painful social or psychological truths about people in our current era; and with it, a kind of general fearlessness from repercussions that maps as crazy"
Interesting. I feel this way about your writing, or at least the bit of it that I've read, which I found very impressive.
Deranged is the right word for this, as in outside the range of normal opinion, aka the Overton Window. Courage, fearlessness and bravery are all used to describe attacking/defending opinions or assumptions within the Overton Window. But the real courage, fearlessness and bravery are all from outside. De-ranged.

The same is true of comedians. Only the fearless get to be remembered.
