In this episode, I discuss a broad theoretical overview of how the aesthetic Overton window is regulated by way of an emergent conformity consensus in elite literary institutions in America, arguing that our culture’s over-optimization for moral purity comes at the expense of aesthetic diversity in the kinds of novels that are able to achieve traditional publication.
